What Difference Between DviX and Xvid

Here I just give a brief introduction of Divx/Xvid, which makes you better know the origin, connection and difference of them.

As mentioned before, DviX and Xvid are the video codecs with excellent video compression technology. The birth of DviX is due to the restriction of MPEG-4 encoder which is developed by Microsoft. It is much to be regretted that MPEG-4 encoder is the closed one. That means people are not free to watch and edit the videos from it. Later some people break MPEG-4 encoder and they develop another brand new encoder, that’s the origin of DivX.

Despite the fact the technical origin of Divx is disgraceful, it still has received frequent usage for its merits like keeping the original edition, occupying much smaller space, more flexible and simpler operations and convenient transmission. DivX has gained popularity and spread widely among the internet and pirated compact discs. The advantage of DivX is accepted by people much more.

However, Divx languished for various reasons. Another new encoder – Xvid comes up that greatly increases the function and efficiency. It is one absolutely open-source encoder and written based on open DivX.

Generally speaking, Xvid has better video quality relatively than DivX while the compressing speed is slower. On the contrary, DIVX has faster compression speed than Xvid while it has lower video quality.

In the end, you may find that VideoByte BD-DVD Ripper is such a user-friendly program when you running the conversion. Many people are used to choosing some kind of completely free applications to do the job. Yet you may run into some problems during the process. VideoByte BD-DVD Ripper could give you a strong hand and maintain stability, efficiency. Just go to experience it at once.
